The New England Cytometry Users Group announces the date and program for our annual Fall meeting.  It will be on October 14th from 8 am to 5 pm at the beautiful Starr Center at the Schepens Eye Research Institute in Boston.  Registration will open at 8:15 am with breakfast being served.  http://www.schepens.harvard.edu/starr_center

As always, we look forward to interact with the vendors who provide us the tools and supplies to make our Research and Diagnostic work a reality. As well, our meeting success depends on sponsorships from our vendors. As many of you know, our last few meetings have been very successful, with attendance from 125 - 185 people spanning the US and Canada.

I look forward to working with you to make our meeting a mutual success.
We have an excellent line up of speakers this year!  It looks to be one of our best meetings yet and the venue is excellent.

and

A Cytometrist's Approach to High-Content Image Analysis
Kathy Schell
Manager, Flow Cytometry Core Facility
University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center

Flow cytometry and high-content imaging are powerful platforms for modern cellular analysis. These two techniques share several common features, both employing fluorescent probes to provide multiplexed, quantitative data on individual cells for the analysis of cellular processes. When used in combination, these techniques can provide complementary information, enabling a more comprehensive cellular analysis. Applications utilizing both platforms will be discussed, including analysis of GFP positive cells, calcium flux, cell cycle, and characterization of human embryonic and neural stem cells.

21st Clinical Flow Cytometry Course will be held in Pittsburgh September 19th - 23rd, 2010.  This course provides a practical, in-depth, exposure to many aspects of flow cytometry.  Small groups of participants will rotate through eight hands-on laboratory sessions run by experts in the field.  Breakfast and luncheon presentations will address some of the more cutting-edge applications of flow cytometry.  Informal exchange of ideas and the development of new contacts will be facilitated by a welcoming evening reception, two bring-your-own-data (BYOD) evening sessions where experts will analyze and discuss data provided by the participants, and a Gala dinner.

The Course will be limited to the first 40 registrants.  For more information see:  https://ccehs.upmc.com/formalCourses.jsp#2591. Contact Fiona E. Craig, MD
