ISAC service: Member, 1990-present; Scientific Advisory Committee 2002-04; Councilor, 2002-06; Chair, Scientific Advisory Committee, 2004-08; Congress Organizing Committee 2006, 2008.
Interest Statement
ISAC is an interesting organization not only because of the importance of its scientific focus, the measurement of cells, but also because its membership is very diverse, including both technology developers and users in basic and clinical sciences, and in academic and commercial settings. The broad range of expertise and interests of its members puts ISAC in a unique position to facilitate the transition of new cytometry technologies to routine and proper use in the research lab or the clinic. However, this same diversity poses a challenge in that each group may have different expectations of ISAC. One key to successfully addressing this challenge is for ISAC leadership to recognize and represent that diversity of experience and interests, understand and prioritize the unique needs of each group, and identify ways that ISAC can help address these needs. In my recent involvement in ISAC, I have seen great strides toward these goals and I would be happy to have the opportunity to help make ISAC as effective an organization as possible.
