The Membership Service Committee would like to thank the students who responded to the student survey. Their input is very valuable and will help us better determine future better policy. This information will also be used to help our president-elect Robert Murphy and the organizing committee prepare student events for the Budapest Meeting.

Below are the results of responses as analyzed by Zachary Pincus:

  • The respondents covered a broad range of fields of biology, medicine and engineering, and had expertise in imaging as well as flow cytometry.
  • In general the tutorials at the last ISAC meeting were useful to those who went, but the expense was a significant issue.
  • The workshops were valuable, but there was some desire for more time per speaker and more time for question/answer/discussion. There were multiple comments to the effect that there should have been more workshops focused on topics in imaging.
  • Students in general felt welcome, but would have appreciated a few more student-based events. The poster contest was the least well- received, but a wide majority still liked that too.

Suggested changes included:

  • More student presentations at workshops
  • A student-based workshop, perhaps on general "science civics" like grant and paper writing, etc.
  • A student mixer before the general ISAC mixer.
  • Of course, more requests for student travel funding.
