Dear ISAC Scholar,
As you know, the ISAC Scholars program began less than a year ago. We are in the process of finding more funds for this program to allocate in a way that will provide you with a valuable and unforgettable experience as an ISAC scholar. In the meantime, we are using the money donated for the ISAC Scholar’s fund by GlaxoSmithKline, Invitrogen, Pfizer, and Bristol-Meyer Squibb, as well as the Fulwyler award money so kindly donated by Prof. Darzynkiewicz at the ISAC congress in Quebec to be used for young ISAC scientists and students. Becton Dickinson and Beckman Coulter matched his challenge and each donated an equivalent amount for our young people. We will provide you with 5 years full membership to ISAC with e-cytometry subscription. We will also provide free registration to the next ISAC meeting and partial travel support to travel to Budapest meeting.
For the moment, we calculate that we can give about 400 USD for European scholars and 900 USD for non European scholars who are farther away from Budapest. We hope to be able to increase these amounts, but we also hope that you will be able to find additional funding via the student funding links web page you are all putting together. We also intend to fund about 5 mentorship trips, where the ISAC scholar will visit the mentor’s lab to learn and collaborate. We will post a list of mentors soon, with their CVs and the topics for which they would like to mentor, on the ISAC website. If you are interested, you will be able to contact them for further details, and apply for the mentorship program. We would also like you to prepare your own profile (300 worlds max and a photo) to be posted on the website.
We are proud to have you in this program and with your help, we hope to establish a very successful ISAC Scholars program.
Kind regards
Laura Teodori & Zofia Maciorowski
