Lawrence F. Bruder elected to position of President and Chief Operating Officer of Guava Technologies

Guava Technologies, Inc. today announced that the board of directors of Guava Technologies, Inc. has elected Lawrence F. Bruder to the position of president and chief operating officer of the company. Mr. Bruder, who joined Guava Technologies in 2004, previously held the title of vice president, corporate development and worldwide marketing.

"Larry Bruder brings a wealth of marketing, sales and business management experience from over 20 years in the life sciences industry, and we are exceptionally pleased to have a leader of his caliber step into this position," said John P. Walker, chairman of the board and interim chief executive officer of Guava Technologies. "His deep commitment and orientation to customer needs will serve our company well as we seek to expand our efforts in serving the needs of the life science community."

Before joining Guava Technologies, Mr. Bruder held business leadership roles as vice president at Applied Biosystems within the functional proteomics division and for Becton Dickinson's (BD) biosciences business. During his tenure with BD, he held positions that included general manager of the immunocytometry systems division, general manager of the industrial microbiology business, and vice president of marketing for immunocytometry systems. Mr. Bruder has held leadership positions of increasing responsibility in marketing, sales and product management over a 12-year career at Leica, Inc. and Olympus Corporation. He holds a Master of Management degree from Kellogg Management School at Northwestern University with a concentration in marketing and economics. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and also completed advanced executive coursework at Harvard University.

"I am pleased to join a solid Guava organization, as we continue to achieve commercial success by changing the way that cellular analysis is performed today," said Larry Bruder. "Guava's core capillary technology has enabled us to provide cost-effective, accessible cell analysis systems for researchers who require more personal control of their cytometry experiments. For example, our newest product, the Guava EasyCyte, provides customers with the combined advantages of minimal sample usage and traditional, three-color, flow cytometric assay results, delivered within a 96-well format. When you add a rapidly growing suite of reagents and turnkey software application options, the Guava system becomes a clear choice for scientists who require expanded capability within a flow lab or for on-demand cell analysis."
