The Artificial Organs Laboratory at the Department of
Surgery of the University of Maryland School of Medicine is inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral
research position. The specific project is concerned with biological and
bioengineering responses to cardiovascular artificial/biohybrid organs in large
animal models.
The research work will
involve blood biocompatibility, mechanobiology (cellular, tissue, organ biomechanics),
inflammation, gene expression, etc. This research will be conducted within a
multidisciplinary research and design team consisting of clinicians,
scientists, engineers and students.
This position is
available immediately.
Qualifications: A PhD or equivalent degree with training
in bioengineering, chemical engineering,
physiology, biological or biomedical sciences or related discipline is required. Preference
will be given to applicants with expertise and experience in flow
cytometry, ELISA, cardiovascular research, implantable medical devices.
