Two Postdoctoral Fellow
Positions
The Department
of Advanced Therapeutics is focused on the discovery and development of novel
therapeutic approaches for the treatment of cancer. It’s primary objective is
to take therapeutic strategies that look promising on the basis of experimental
models of cancer to the stage where they can be tested in patients. We are
currently looking for three post doctoral fellows to join our team of over 30
scientists (senior scientists, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students,
research associates and support staff) working aggressively to develop better
therapeutics for individuals with cancer. Project areas include:
1. Molecular Biologist to
design and test antisense oligonucleotide combinations to effect treatment of
aggressive lymphomas expressing defined molecular targets.
2. Membrane Biochemist to
develop novel membrane active anticancer therapeutics.
3. Membrane Biochemist to
develop novel lipid based delivery systems designed to improve the activity of
agents already used to treat cancer.
4. Tumour
Biologist to study the role of hypoxia in cancer management using a hypoxia
marker, studies that will involve immunohistochemistry, in vivo work and radiochemistry.
Each successful candidate should have a Ph.D. and
will have an outstanding academic record as well as a publication list that
will ensure success in obtaining individual fellowship support. Funds are available for one year (salary
support at the postdoctoral fellow level with the rate of funding set according
to current Medical Research Council of Canada guidelines). There is an expectation that each program
will be extended for an additional two years.
If you
wish to apply for any of the above research programs please indicate which
position that you are interested in and why your background is suitable. Also
send your complete c.v. along with three letters of support (applications
without letters of support or the names of three references that can be
contacted independently will not be considered) to:
